What is somatic movement?
Somatic Movement is non-habitual, gentle movement that helps your body let go of the tension and stress it has stored. Many of my clients carry tension that talk-based approaches alone had not reduced, because our stress is stored in our bodies. Researchers call this accumulation allostatic load, an accumulation of chronic stress on the body, including elevated cortisol and adrenaline, that causes inflammation, tension, and illness in the body. Somatic movement is designed to reduce allostatic load in your body. It is fun and accessible at any experience level for most bodies.
